Role:
Mridangam & Tabla

Bala is a rising star on the Carnatic music scene. His passion for Indian classical percussion was realised, when at the age of six, he began learning the Tabla. Bala’s initiation into the art of mridangam came years later, but he very ably developed his own techniques and methods. Bala has been able to further refine his skills with advice from senior local artists and guidance from visiting mridangam vidwans (experts in their particular field of music) from India. In recent years, Bala has had the privilege of advance training under the guidance of Kumbakonam Sri Rajappa Iyer and Sri K.R. Ganesh. He has performed extensively in Australia for many senior artists, as well as having played in various Sabhas in Chennai. Bala has been an accompanying the Lingalayam Dance Academy dancers and the Company performers on both the mridangam & table since 2006. He also works part time for the Australian army.
