The Artists
Bala is a rising star on the Carnatic music scene. His passion for Indian classical percussion was realised, when at the age of six, he began learning the Tabla. Bala’s initiation into the art of mridangam came years later, but he very ably developed his own techniques and methods. Bala has been able to further refine his skills with advice from senior local artists and guidance from visiting mridangam vidwans (experts in their particular field of music) from India. In recent years, Bala has had the privilege of advance training under the guidance of Kumbakonam Sri Rajappa Iyer and Sri K.R.
Kishan has been playing the Tabla from the tender age of six and learnt playing the Tabla from Pt. Ram Chandra Suman. He has advanced training under the late Ustad Alla Rakha. He performed his Arangetram (solo debut) with Padmashree Mandolin U. Shrinivas and Mandolin U Rajesh in the year 2000. He has accompanied many prominent artists at the annual Music and Dance Season in Chennai. He has also released a CD recording in which he has accompanied; Flute Dr. N. Ramani, Gottuvadyam Durga Prasad and Mandolin U Rajesh. Kishan accompanied Lingalayam’s 2005 production, Serpent Woman.
